Benefits and Drawbacks of Cat Haircutting

Cat haircutting has fewer advantages and comparatively more disadvantages. It is generally not recommended for owners to give their cats haircuts, although cutting cat hair can reduce the amount of hair shedding and lower the probability of skin diseases. However, it can also cause more problems, so除非有皮肤病等特殊原因,否则不建议给猫咪剃毛。

Here are some possible effects of giving a cat a haircut:

  1. Skin damage: The fur is the first layer of protection for a cat's skin. After a haircut, the exposed skin is more susceptible to bacterial and fungal infections and is also more prone to being bitten by mosquitoes and other insects. In addition, cats who get haircuts in summer are more likely to get sunburned, and those who get them in winter are more likely to get sick from catching a cold. These issues are all caused by the absence of the first layer of protection on their skin.

  2. Aesthetics affected: The fur that grows back after a haircut is often harder and coarser than the original fur, resulting in a decline in aesthetic appeal. Therefore, from a cosmetic perspective, it is also not recommended to give cats haircuts.

  3. Mood affected: Most cats dislike having their fur cut off, and cats are very emotional animals. When their mood is poor, they are more prone to sickness, such as many male cats developing spontaneous cystitis after being stimulated. For cats, a happy mood is a major premise for good health, so maintaining their happiness is essential.
