Can cat angular cheilitis heal itself?
Angular cheilitis in cats cannot usually heal itself, except for those with mild symptoms or strong immune systems. It is recommended to treat angular cheilitis with a combination of antibiotics and vitamins. After cleaning the affected skin of the cat, apply antibacterial and anti-inflammatory creams or sprays, give oral or injectable antibiotic drugs, and supplement with appropriate amounts of vitamin B to promote wound healing. During treatment, feed the cat soft food to avoid excessive movement of its mouth and wound撕裂. Cat owners should pay attention to supplementing vitamins and maintaining oral hygiene to prevent the occurrence of angular cheilitis.
If the infection symptoms are mild or the cat's immune system is very strong, angular cheilitis has the possibility of self-healing. However, to prevent the condition from worsening, it is still recommended to treat the cat with reasonable drugs.
During treatment, first clean the surrounding skin of the affected area, then apply antibacterial and anti-inflammatory creams. Give the cat oral or subcutaneous injections of antibiotics to prevent infection, and supplement with appropriate amounts of vitamin B to accelerate wound healing. Continuously treat for about 7 days. During the recovery period, feed the cat soft and easily digestible food, and try to encourage the cat to drink more water. If the cat is unwilling to drink, use a syringe to feed it little by little. At the same time, pay attention to the cat's daily activities to avoid severe tearing at the corners of its mouth.
The main causes of angular cheilitis include vitamin deficiency, bacterial or viral infection, and trauma. Therefore, cat owners should pay attention to the cat's diet and daily hygiene, prioritize vitamin supplementation, feed less soft and wet food, and clean the cat's teeth daily with toothpaste or denture cleaner to maintain oral hygiene.
