Cats cannot eat pepper. Pepper is a highly spicy and irritating food. If a cat eats it, it will stimulate the cat's stomach and intestines, leading to symptoms of diarrhea. In addition, pepper can also cause cats to sneeze and affect their sense of smell. Therefore, for the sake of the cat's health, it is recommended that owners feed their cats mainly cat food and appropriately feed some meat, vegetables, and fruits.
Pepper is a spicy seasoning, and when cats eat it, it can affect their stomach and intestinal mucosa, causing damage to the gastrointestinal tract and triggering symptoms such as diarrhea and vomiting. If a cat eats too much pepper and does not receive timely treatment, there may even be life-threatening risks. Therefore, this seasoning should never be given to cats.
Pepper contains a biochemical substance called piperine, which is a stimulant for a cat's nasal cavity. If the cat inhales piperine, it can stimulate the nerve endings in the nasal mucosa, causing the cat to sneeze. In severe cases, it can even affect the cat's sense of smell. Therefore, substances with strong irritants like pepper should be avoided as much as possible to prevent cats from smelling them.
In addition to pepper, owners should also not feed cats foods like Sichuan pepper, chili peppers, scallions, ginger, garlic, onions, and leeks. When making homemade food for cats, do not add any seasonings, and just boil the food in water.
