Can puppies drink milk powder?
Puppies cannot drink milk powder. This is because milk powder contains a large amount of lactose, which is impossible for puppies to digest. When they drink it, they may show symptoms such as vomiting, soft stools, diarrhea, and more. Therefore, it is not recommended to give puppies milk powder. If you want to supplement their nutrition, you can give them pet-specific goat's milk or goat milk powder, which is rich in nutrients and can meet the puppies' needs for these nutrients.
I. Main Reasons
Puppies have fragile stomachs and severe lactose intolerance. Although milk powder is rich in nutrients, it has a high lactose content. Feeding it to puppies can easily induce stomach discomfort and even lead to diarrhea, vomiting, soft stools, and loss of appetite. Therefore, it is recommended that owners do not give puppies milk powder or milk.
Some puppies are allergic to the proteins in milk. When the proteins act on the whole body, they can cause skin allergies, redness, swelling, and itching. If these symptoms are found in puppies, it is necessary to seek medical attention promptly.
II. Precautions
Because most dogs experience discomfort after drinking milk, if you really want to supplement dairy products for your dog, it is recommended that you give them pet-specific goat milk powder. The lactose content in goat milk powder is lower, so there will be no allergic reactions.
In addition to milk, owners should not give dogs beverages containing alcohol, carbonated drinks, milk tea, coffee, and tea to avoid harming their health.
