Can puppies drink milk when they have a cold?
When a puppy has a cold, it is recommended to feed them artificial milk. It is suggested to feed the young dogs with specialized dog goat milk, and avoid giving them human milk. This is because the intestinal tract of young dogs is fragile and not fully developed. Human milk contains many additives that dogs cannot absorb, which may cause digestive symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea.
Temperature of milk
The temperature of the milk fed to dogs should be between 20-30 degrees Celsius. When feeding a young dog, the owner should pay attention not to give them milk, as their stomach cannot digest and absorb it, which will cause diarrhea. Young dogs can only be fed goat milk, and when preparing the milk, do not make it too watery. When feeding the dog, use your finger to test the temperature of the goat milk. If it is not hot to the touch and feels gentle, you can feed the dog.
Symptoms of puppy cold
The symptoms include running nose, watery eyes, accelerated breathing, uneven skin temperature, lethargy, poor spirit, increased body temperature, cold limbs, decreased appetite, and even refusal to eat. The disease usually lasts for 3-5 days and can be cured within 7-10 days. It is necessary to seek timely treatment. The initial symptoms of distemper are similar to those of a cold, so do not delay the dog's treatment.
What to do if a puppy has a cold
First, use air conditioning and a small sun to keep the temperature of the maternity ward around 25 degrees Celsius and avoid placing the dog's bed near the window. For sick young dogs, under the condition of local pet diagnosis, try to use veterinary drugs. If unable to buy, pediatric amoxicillin can be used appropriately, but be sure to pay attention to the dosage.
