How often should cats take a bath?
It is best to bath a cat every 1-2 months, but the frequency of bathing depends on the actual situation. However, excessive bathing is not recommended because cats' skin secretes a layer of protective oil that maintains skin health. Frequent bathing disrupts the normal secretion of this oil, making the skin more susceptible to itching and skin inflammation. This can weaken the cat's resistance and immunity, making it more prone to skin diseases.
Can cats bath during vaccination?
If a cat is under 3 months old, it is not recommended to bathe it. If the cat is already 3 months old, you can bathe it about 7 days after vaccination. After bathing, make sure to dry the cat's fur promptly to avoid catching a cold and affecting the next vaccination.
Why do cats hate baths?
Cats hate baths because they are afraid of water. Their ancestors mostly lived in arid areas and had little contact with water, causing them to develop a fear of it. However, some cats are not afraid of water. Before bathing your cat, you can use food or toys to lure it and try to minimize stimulation, allowing it to gradually become accustomed to baths.
How to make cats take baths willingly?
- Be gentle when holding the cat, calm it down with a soft voice, and continuously stroke its fur. Maintain this gentle attitude and movements during the bath.
- Never make the cat feel impatient during bath time. Offer it a favorite toy to play with while bathing, one that it can only play with during baths.
