Cat breathing heavily and panting
A cat breathing heavily and panting continuously may be caused by shock, hot weather, intense exercise, respiratory infections, or heart and lung diseases. In this case, it is recommended to place the cat in a moderately warm and quiet environment to rest and observe if there are any symptoms such as decreased appetite, depression, vomiting, or diarrhea. If not, there is no worry, and the cat will recover after a rest. If the symptoms are severe, it is advised to take the cat to the pet hospital for oxygen therapy immediately, relieve the condition, and conduct relevant examinations. Treatment should be sought based on the examination results.
- Shock
Cats are timid, and when they are frightened, they may experience accelerated heartbeat and heavy breathing in a state of extreme tension and fear, such as suddenly changing environments or hearing loud noises. If this is the case, place the cat in a familiar environment and gently stroke its head. Provide the cat with favorite snacks or familiar toys to help alleviate its anxiety.
- Hot weather, intense exercise
Due to poor heat dissipation capabilities, cats will breathe quickly to help their bodies cool down after exposure to hot weather or intense exercise. This is a normal situation.建議將貓咪移動到陰涼通風的地方休息,並提供充足的飲水。一般在休息十分钟左右就可以缓解。
- Respiratory infections
If the cat has symptoms such as labored breathing, lethargy, decreased appetite, sneezing, and runny nose, it may be infected with respiratory diseases such as pneumonia or bronchitis. In this case, consult a pet doctor for medication treatment in time to prevent the condition from worsening.
- Heart and lung diseases
If the cat is in its senior years, the likelihood of breathing difficulties caused by heart and lung diseases will increase significantly. If the owner finds that the cat's condition is severe, it is necessary to take the cat to the pet hospital for DR or other imaging examinations to preliminarily assess the heart and lung conditions.
