Symptoms of Cat Eczema

Cat eczema symptoms mainly manifest as red patches, petechiae, vesicles, ulcers, and scales on the affected area, accompanied by itching, pain, and fever. This is a response to allergies in cats. When cats show symptoms of eczema, owners should promptly go to a pet hospital to purchase eczema-effective ointments and apply them to the affected area. Additionally, stop the cat from scratching the affected area to help it recover healthily.

The clinical manifestations of cat eczema can be divided into two types: acute eczema and chronic eczema.

  1. Symptoms of Acute Cat Eczema

When a cat has acute eczema, the skin surface will appear with red patches or papules, mostly on the nose bridge, eyes, and cheeks. These patches easily spread to surrounding areas, forming small vesicles. After the vesicles rupture, local ulceration occurs. Due to the itching and moisture of the affected area, the cat becomes very uneasy and licks and bites the affected area, causing extensive papules on the skin and exacerbating the symptoms.

  1. Symptoms of Chronic Cat Eczema

The course of chronic cat eczema is long, and the clinical symptoms mainly include skin thickening, lichenification, and scaling. Compared to acute eczema, the degree of skin moisture is relatively reduced, but itching symptoms still persist and may even worsen.
