Cat refuses to drink water from the bowl

Cat doesn't drink water from its bowl

If your cat refuses to drink water from its bowl, you can offer it some wet food. Wet food contains about 70-80% moisture, and you can add some water to it. Wet food can ensure your cat's water intake and provides some necessary nutrients, but it should not be fed as a staple diet long-term. This can lead to malnutrition and oral diseases such as dental calculus and gingivitis.

Why don't cats drink water from the bowl?

Cats are curious and prefer moving objects to calm water in the bowl. They often prefer to drink water from the tap or toilet because other water sources may contain impurities, which are not suitable for consumption. You can buy a flowing water bowl to stimulate your cat's interest or place multiple water bowls around the house.

Cat personality

Cats' personalities vary by breed and upbringing. Generally, domesticated cats are affectionate, love to be spoiled, are curious, active, clean, have a strong memory, etc. However, some cats are more aloof and may not be as close to their owners. A cat's personality is partially related to the owner's guidance and education.

How to train a cat

To train your cat's behavior, use a strict tone to say "no" when your cat exhibits unwanted behaviors like scratching furniture or biting people. You can also gently tap it with a rolled-up paper tube as a punishment. Although cats may still challenge your limits, they will eventually learn that doing wrong deeds will be punished, thus becoming more disciplined. You can also train your cat to sit by pressing down on its bottom while saying "sit." Give it a treat as a reward when it successfully sits down. Repeat this process several times for successful training.
