How often do cats get vaccinated?
For routine vaccines, after three months of age, cats can get their first injection as long as they are in good health. Then, they should get a booster shot annually to maintain immunity. To prevent the vaccine from expiring, the booster can be given one month earlier than the scheduled date. Unroutine vaccines usually require only one injection.
Interval between cat vaccinations
After the first vaccination, cats need to get another shot about four weeks later to reinforce the immune effect. After that, they only need to be vaccinated once a year. If cats mainly stay indoors and have limited exposure to the outside, they can be vaccinated every 2-3 years. However, it's best to let the doctor make the judgment based on the cat's individual situation. There can be varying immune effects between individuals. In some countries, cats can even be vaccinated every three years. In China, due to the low vaccination rate and a higher incidence of infectious diseases, it is recommended to vaccinate cats once a year.
Allergies to cat vaccines
If a cat develops an allergic reaction after getting vaccinated, it may also accompany symptoms like foaming at the mouth and limb convulsions. Foaming at the mouth is a response to the cat's sensitivity to the medication, while limb convulsions are caused by injecting too much antigen, and the cat's internal antibodies are insufficient. When a cat develops an allergic reaction after getting vaccinated, take it to the doctor promptly to desensitize it and avoid accidents.
How to vaccinate cats
If a cat is getting its first vaccination, it needs to be injected with a combined vaccine to prevent cat diseases once every 21 days, a total of three times. When the cat is four months old, it can receive the first rabies vaccine. For annual vaccination, cats need to get a combined vaccine and a rabies vaccine 11 months after the last injection. Ensure that the cat's health is normal before injecting the vaccine, as sick cats cannot be vaccinated.
