Can cats only eat cat food?

It is not recommended for cats to only eat cat food. Most cat foods are expanded dry foods. While it is convenient to raise cats on cat food, their feces will not be as smelly as those who eat fish congee. However, cats that only eat cat food do not have the same shiny coat as those that eat fish congee. Therefore, it is better to alternate between cat food and fish congee to ensure that cats receive a more diverse range of nutrients.

What do cats love to eat?

Cats are absolute carnivores. Therefore, their favorite food is likely to be high-protein meat. Various properly prepared meats are liked by cats, although each cat has its own preferences. The second favorite taste for cats is sour, so unflavored room-temperature yogurt rich in protein is also a popular food choice for cats.

Symptoms of malnutrition in cats

Malnutrition is common in cats with poor constitutions and those suffering from chronic diseases. Main symptoms include pale mucous membranes, rough and dry fur, dull eyes, no weight gain or rapid weight loss, persistent loose stools, chronic vomiting, and severe anemia. Long-term malnutrition can lead to a weakened immune system, making cats more susceptible to external pathogens and causing other diseases.

What to feed cats with malnutrition

When a cat is malnourished, owners can feed them meat such as chicken breast, beef, and fish, four to five times a week. They can also mix cat food with cat cans. In addition to feeding meat to supplement nutrients, owners should also provide easily digestible nutrients such as nutritional supplements, sheep milk, and vitamins. Furthermore, regular deworming is necessary to prevent cats from becoming infected with parasites that can exacerbate malnutrition.
