What foods should dogs eat to supplement calcium?
To supplement calcium for your dog, you can choose the following foods:
Sheep's milk: Sheep's milk contains various nutrients, especially rich in vitamins A and B, which can enhance your dog's immunity. The calcium and nucleic acid content in sheep's milk is also higher than that in cow's milk. Most importantly, the lactose molecules in sheep's milk are smaller, which is more conducive to your dog's intestinal absorption. Therefore, giving your dog sheep's milk also has a calcium-supplementing effect.
Mung bean sprouts: Mung bean sprouts contain protein, various vitamins, fiber, zinc, and other minerals. They have multiple uses, with a higher calcium content than milk. They not only supplement calcium but also promote digestion and have the effect of improving constipation. Because of their crunchy texture, dogs love to eat them, so they can be fed appropriately.
Shrimp: Shrimp is a calcium-rich food. It contains some trace elements, such as phosphorus, which promotes the absorption of calcium in the human body. Therefore, shrimp not only has a high calcium content but also has a particularly good calcium-supplementing effect. Feeding your dog with appropriate amounts of shrimp can relieve calcium deficiency and promote bone development.
Amaranth: Amaranth is rich in vitamins and minerals, especially calcium. When dogs eat it, they can not only promote digestion but also increase blood circulation. However, it is not advisable to eat too much, and dogs should be fed once a week. The cooked amaranth should be served without any seasoning. It is not recommended to feed dogs during illness.
Dried small fish: Dried small fish contain more calcium, which is beneficial to a dog's health. When choosing dried small fish, it is recommended to choose those without salt. Because dogs have limited sweat glands, the salt they ingest is excreted through the kidneys. Excessive salt intake can cause kidney strain.
Okra: Okra is rich in nutrition, containing abundant calcium, dietary fiber, and vitamin A. It is good for a dog's eyes. However, it is not advisable to feed dogs large amounts of okra in daily life. Excessive consumption of okra may cause hemolysis in dogs. It is recommended to chop okra and mix it with dog food when feeding. This can help with digestion.
Tofu: Tofu is rich in protein, vitamins, dietary fiber, iron, calcium, and phosphorus. It not only supplements calcium but also promotes the complementary action of amino acids in dogs. Moderate consumption of tofu is beneficial to a dog's growth and development.
In severe cases of calcium deficiency, it is recommended to supplement calcium through medication or health products.
