How long after internal deworming can a dog get a vaccine?
Usually, a dog can get a vaccine 1-2 weeks after internal deworming. Firstly, if the dog has regular deworming sessions, they can get a vaccine one week after the last deworming. Secondly, if there are many parasites in the dog's body, they will need to be dewormed again one week later, which means the dog will need to wait for two weeks before getting a vaccine. Therefore, it is recommended that the owner observes the dog for at least one week after internal deworming, and if the dog shows no abnormalities, they can consider giving it a vaccine.
Generally, there should be a one-week interval between internal deworming and vaccination for dogs. Dogs under six months old usually need to be dewormed once a month, while dogs six months and older can be dewormed every three months. Therefore, if a dog follows this regular deworming schedule, they can get a vaccine one week after the last deworming.
If there are many parasites in the dog's body, it is recommended to perform a second consolidating deworming treatment 15-20 days later. After the deworming, wait for two weeks. If the dog shows no other abnormalities, it can get a vaccine. This is because if there are parasites in the dog's body, they can affect the effectiveness of the vaccine and lead to immunization failure. So, the owner needs to ensure that the dog is not infected with parasites before taking it for a vaccine, and it is usually recommended to deworm first and then get the vaccine.
For the first three days after the dog's deworming and one week after the vaccination, it is recommended that the owner does not bathe the dog or take it outside. This avoids the dog contracting microorganisms during this period and developing diseases.
