Symptoms of a depressed and upset Golden Retriever
1. Melancholy and lethargy: A depressed Golden Retriever will generally appear moody and uninterested in daily activities. They may lose their appetite and refuse to eat, or eat less than usual. They may also become unresponsive and avoidant of those who upset them.
2. Obvious emotions: Since Golden Retrievers are generally gentle by nature and don't easily get angry or act aggressively towards others, when they are upset or depressed, it is quite noticeable. Even if the owner scolds them for doing something wrong, they will not retaliate, but their small eyes will reveal their sadness.
3. Disappearance and avoiding touch: If you make a Golden Retriever angry, they will ignore you and refuse to respond to your calls. They may even avoid being touched, as they dislike physical contact during this emotional state. Sometimes, they may even show signs of trembling and crying.
4. Running away: In some cases, after being scolded or mistreated, the Golden Retriever may disappear and run outside to play. This is an expression of wanting to escape from the situation and seeking comfort elsewhere. If they are feeling better after some time, they will usually return on their own.
5. Loss of appetite: Another symptom of a depressed Golden Retriever is a decline in appetite. They may refuse to eat or drink, even if offered their favorite meat. This can be a telling sign of their emotional state, as they usually enjoy food.
By understanding these signs, you can better care for and support your Golden Retriever during times of sadness and depression.
