Golden retriever seems to be flowing pus from the urethra
Golden retriever seems to be flowing pus from the urethra, which may be due to genital infections or surrounding skin and tissue lesions. It is recommended that pet owners bring their dogs to a pet hospital for a cytological examination of the secretions, along with abdominal X-ray and ultrasound imaging examinations to check for any abnormalities in the cavity and its accessory organs.
Characteristics of urinary system diseases
Urinary system diseases mainly include kidney disease, ureter, bladder, and urethral lesions. Vomiting, polyuria, polydipsia, anuria, and oliguria are related to kidney disease. Urinary retention, frequency of urination, difficulty urinating, hematuria, urethral redness, and other symptoms are related to bladder and urethral diseases. Once these symptoms of urinary tract diseases appear, it is necessary to go to the hospital for examination and treatment. Urinary tract diseases cannot heal themselves and require early treatment.
Urinary tract symptoms
Dogs often develop urinary system syndromes, which usually manifest clinically with depression, constant walking, whining, and frequent licking of the genitals; difficulty urinating, frequent urination, oliguria, or even hematuria or anuria; and abdominal distension, palpable fluid inside the abdomen when the condition is severe.
What to do if yellowish fluid flows from the urethra
This is often caused by urinary system inflammation, such as cystitis, urethritis, and other diseases. You can encourage your dog to drink more water, apply broad-spectrum antibiotics systemically, inject 40% metronidazole solution to facilitate urethral disinfection, and administer oral drugs to acidify the urine. You can also use 0.1% rifampicin solution or chitosan solution to irrigate the urethra or bladder.
