How does cat intussusception occur?
Cat intussusception may be caused by infection with parasites, ingestion of foreign objects, drug stimulation, or diseases such as gastroenteritis and enteritis. In addition, severe vomiting and diarrhea can also easily lead to intussusception. When a cat shows signs of abdominal tension and frequent vomiting, it is necessary to suspect whether intussusception is present and send the cat to a pet hospital for timely diagnosis and treatment.
- Parasite infection
When a cat is infected with parasites, it can cause changes in the peristaltic movement of a section of the intestine, thereby causing intussusception. In this case, it is necessary to take the cat to the pet hospital for treatment in a timely manner.
- Ingestion of foreign objects
If a cat accidentally ingests a foreign object, it may cause intussusception. This condition can be diagnosed via X-ray to determine the location of the foreign object, and then surgically removed.
- Drug stimulation
Drug stimulation can also cause intussusception in cats. For example, when a cat is suffering from a disease accompanied by vomiting and severe diarrhea, and the cat is given drugs that can increase peristaltic movement during treatment, intussusception can be triggered instead.
- Gastroenteritis, enteritis, and other diseases
If a cat suffers from gastroenteritis, enteritis, or other diseases, it can cause severe vomiting and diarrhea, thereby leading to intussusception.
Note: Intussusception is a very dangerous disease for cats. If it is not discovered and treated in a timely manner, the cat may face life-threatening risks.
