How to deal with knotted Teddy dog hair
There are several ways to deal with knotted Teddy dog hair:
If the Teddy's hair is only slightly knotted, you can use a dog-specific pin brush to slowly detangle it.
If the Teddy's hair has formed a tight knot but the area is small, you can simply cut off the knotted hair.
If the area of knotted hair is large and unmanageable, the only solution is to shave off the dog's hair and properly care for the new growth.
Detangling with a pin brush
If the Teddy's hair is only slightly knotted, the owner can use a dog-specific pin brush to slowly detangle it. First, simply separate the dog's hair with your hands, then hold the root of the hair with one hand, and use the brush to slowly brush the hair in the other hand. Be careful not to pull the dog's hair roughly, or the dog may flee due to pain.
- Cutting off the knotted hair
If the Teddy's hair has formed a tight knot that can't be separated, but the area is small, say only a couple of spots, the owner can choose to simply cut off the knotted hair and then give the dog a simple trim.
- Shaving off the hair
If many parts of the Teddy's body have knotted hair, the only solution is to take the dog to a pet hospital and have all the hair shaved off. Be sure to keep the dog warm to avoid catching a cold. If not treated in time, the dog's hair will not allow air to circulate, easily causing skin diseases and parasites.
Note: Since Teddy dogs have curly hair, if not trimmed and cared for in time, their hair easily knots up. Therefore, in the daily management of raising Teddy dogs, owners need to take them to the pet store regularly for maintenance to prevent their hair from becoming too messy and knotting up.
