How to Make a Dog's Nail Line Shorter
A dog's nail line will not shorten on its own, and currently, the only way to make it shorter is through a cruel procedure called "blood-lining". This involves cutting the dog's nails to achieve a shorter nail line, but it poses a significant risk to the dog's health and is therefore not recommended. It is suggested to control the nail line from getting longer by trimming the dog's nails in a timely manner, which ensures that the dog's nail line will not grow longer and also guarantees the dog's health.
It should be clarified that a dog's nail line will not shorten by itself. Nowadays, some pet clinics offer a procedure called "blood-lining", which involves trimming the dog's nails under anesthesia to achieve a shorter nail line. However, this method is extremely cruel and causes intense pain to the dog. In other words, performing a blood-lining procedure on a dog is equivalent to amputating the first joint of a human finger. Currently, most pet hospitals have forbidden this procedure because it goes against animal welfare.
If you want to make a dog's nail line shorter, it is recommended to trim the dog's nails timely, which can inhibit the nail line from growing longer. This is because if the dog's nails are not trimmed for a long time, the nail line will extend along with the growth of the nails, leading to longer nails. When trimming the dog's nails, you should use pet-specific nail clippers and avoid using human nail clippers or scissors, etc., to avoid cutting the dog's nails too deeply. Before trimming, you need to find the location of the nail line to avoid bleeding. If the dog's nail accidentally bleeds, there is no need to worry, as the blood supply to the nails is relatively small. Pet owners can use cotton balls or gauze to press down on the wound to stop the bleeding. If the dog's nail continues to bleed, consider using a styptic powder. Lateral care should be taken to avoid contact with water or pollutants, keeping the wounded nail area dry and clean.
