Life expectancy and dying symptoms of Poodles

The average lifespan of a pet dog is around 13 years, with larger breeds having shorter lives and smaller breeds living longer. Poodles have a relatively long lifespan among pet dogs, with an average life expectancy of 15 to 20 years. If the owner raises the dog scientifically, has it neutered at the right age, and provides high-nutrition food in its senior years, the dog's lifespan may be extended. However, accidents, illness, and abandonment cannot be ruled out, and these dogs may die prematurely.

Common diseases in Poodles

High-incidence diseases include: anal gland disease, acquired growth hormone deficiency skin disease, diabetes, femoral head necrosis, atlantoaxial subluxation, granulomatous meningitis, meningitis, hydrocephalus, cataracts, trichiasis, entropion, retinal atrophy, glaucoma, urinary calculi, undescended testicles, difficult labor, postpartum paralysis, and tracheal collapse. Common and high-incidence diseases include: dermatitis, hemorrhagic colitis, thrombocytopenia, anemia, fractures, knee dislocation, perineal hernia, trichoblastic tumor, epilepsy, and epiphora.

Symptoms of Poodles nearing death

When a dog's life is coming to an end, it may show signs of refusing to eat or drink, inability to stand, depression, lifeless eyes, inability to control bowel movements, and wandering away from home. As dogs enter their senior years, they may have difficulty eating, and they may stop eating altogether for about a week before dying. Due to their advanced age, the dog's senses and mental abilities will weaken severely, and sometimes the dog may not respond to its owner's calls.

How to raise Poodles

Poodle food mainly consists of dog food, pork, potatoes, corn, etc. Poodles are lively and active, and their owners should take them for outdoor activities daily, observing the dog's physical health and seeking medical attention promptly if there are abnormal symptoms or fever. Additionally, due to the fluffy and curly nature of Poodle hair, regular brushing and trimming are necessary to prevent knots and maintain aesthetics.
