Suddenly messy defecation in female cats
Possible causes
- Cats are clean animals. If their owners do not clean the litter box in time, cats may start messily defecating around the house. Therefore, owners should clean the litter box daily.
- Cats are prone to revenge. If they are punished or scolded by their owners, they may defecate randomly indoors out of revenge. So, when cats make mistakes, owners should not punish or scold them.
Suddenly messy defecation in female cats
Possible reasons for random defecation in female cats include:
- Heat behavior.
- Diseases, such as gastrointestinal disorders, urinary tract disorders, arthritis, etc.
- The litter box is too small, the placement is incorrect, the cat dislikes the type of litter, or the litter box is not clean.
- New people or animals at home cause stress to the cat.
Pros and cons of litter
The pros and cons of litter are related to different types of litter. Generally, the advantages of using litter include effective absorption of cat feces and urine, making it easier for owners to clean, and having a certain deodorizing effect. The disadvantages include regular replacement of litter, cleaning the litter box, and purchasing litter.
Choosing a litter box
Choose an appropriate litter box according to the cat's size, preferences, and the type of litter. The general size should be 3-5 times larger than the cat's body, with a moderate height. Too high is inconvenient, and too low is prone to spillage. Observe the cat's usage experience regularly. If it doesn't bury its feces directly after using the toilet or always defecates near the edge of the litter box, it may not like the litter box, and it's time to change it. Double-layer litter boxes are practical for wood chip litter. Place the litter box in a fixed location as far away from the food bowl as possible, in a relatively enclosed, less-trafficked area, and avoid moving or changing it randomly.
