Symptoms of a Small Pomeranian's Impending Death
Before a small Pomeranian dies, they may exhibit signs such as being unable to stand, incontinence, dilated pupils, loss of skin elasticity, lack of vascular tension, and difficulty breathing. If you encounter any of the situations mentioned above, please seek emergency veterinary care offline to strive for every opportunity to save lives and avoid accidents.
(1) Unable to Stand
Before a dog's death, they have no strength left. They will remain lying down, exhibit a depressed spirit, have a weak response to their owner's calls, lose appetite or completely lose the ability to eat, and become increasingly thin. This is because their kidneys and liver are no longer functioning normally, and the dog no longer feels hungry or thirsty.
(2) Incontinence
A dog in its dying moments loses control of its body, including the muscles related to urination and defecation, resulting in incontinence.
(3) Dilated Pupils
Due to neuromuscular dysfunction, the eye muscles lose tension, and the dog's pupils will gradually dilate and eventually fail to contract normally. When the pupils are completely dilated, it indicates the dog's death.
(4) Loss of Skin Elasticity
With no vascular tension, as the dog approaches death, its skin loses moisture and elasticity, becoming dry and sagging. When pinching the skin behind the dog's neck, if the skin slowly retracts, it indicates the dog is in a severe dehydrated state. The blood vessels will also contract, lose tension, and gradually lose their ability to supply blood to various organs.
(5) Difficulty Breathing
When a dog is in a dying state, they may begin to breathe rapidly or irregularly, or experience difficulty breathing. This is because the blood concentration in the dog's body can no longer support normal breathing. The dog's breathing will become increasingly difficult, slower, and eventually stop abruptly.
