Symptoms of Siam cat's stress response
Alert phase: Through a series of neurophysiological changes, the body emergency mobilizes internal resources and is in a state of readiness. This phase can be divided into shock phase and anti-shock phase. In the shock phase, symptoms such as decreased blood pressure, increased vascular permeability, decreased blood concentration, and decreased body temperature may occur. The manifestations of the anti-shock phase are opposite to those of the shock phase.
Resistance phase: At this time, neurophysiological changes continue to occur, and the body fully utilizes its resources to deal with various emergencies.
Exhaustion phase: The body's hormones and essential trace elements are depleted, some cells and tissues are destroyed, and post-traumatic stress disorder occurs. This stage occurs only when the stress factor is severe or lasts for a long time. At this time, defensive measures are no longer effective. If it continues to develop, it will lead to death.
How to deal with Siam cat's stress response
First, the owner needs to find out the cause of the cat's stress. If it's a new cat just brought home, you can take some things it used before, such as toys, which have its smell and can make it feel relaxed. If it's suddenly changed to a new cat food, it may also cause stress. The owner should choose food that is the same as before to reduce gastrointestinal discomfort caused by stress. Otherwise, it's difficult to deal with diarrhea and vomiting. Suddenly changing the shampoo may also cause a stress response in cats. The owner needs to find a suitable shampoo for the cat or the one it used before. When you notice that the cat has already shown stress responses, do not disturb it and do not give it too much water or food, let it adapt slowly on its own.
