What is going on when a dog vomits yellow liquid?

If the dog is young, it is usually considered that the vomiting of yellow liquid is caused by reasons such as food, gastrointestinal inflammation, and intestinal parasites. In addition, it may also be due to poisoning, intestinal obstruction, and abdominal diseases. If the dog is older, and the common causes have been ruled out, it may be due to tumors or liver disease.

If the dog is young, firstly, consider the cause of vomiting yellow liquid induced by diet, such as suddenly changing the main food of the dog, feeding some difficult-to-digest foods, or eating too fast.

Secondly, consider gastrointestinal inflammation. Gastrointestinal inflammation is mainly caused by unclean diet or secondary to food stimulation. The clinical manifestations are mainly vomiting, and the vomit is usually food residues or yellow liquid. It is often accompanied by severe diarrhea. Finally, consider intestinal parasite infection. Young dogs are prone to be infected by tapeworms, roundworms, and other parasites, among which roundworm infection is more common. The clinical symptoms mainly include thinning, rough hair, and diarrhea. If the infection is severe, vomiting may occur sometimes.

In addition, it may also be caused by intestinal obstruction. The causes of intestinal obstruction mainly include swallowing some indigestible foreign objects, such as bones, metals, and clothes. Poisoning, acute pancreatitis, pyometra, and urethral obstruction can also cause dogs to have varying degrees of vomiting. It is recommended to go to the pet hospital in time for further examination and treatment. If the dog is older and the common causes of vomiting have been ruled out, it may be due to gastrointestinal tumors, liver disease, and other internal organ diseases. In this case, consider symptomatic treatment.
