What foods should cats avoid during inflammation?
Cats with inflammation need to avoid fatty snacks. They should not be fed with cat food containing high levels of fat. It is best not to feed cats with fatty meats. They also should not eat raw meat or raw fish. Feeding cats with raw meat can lead to parasite infections, which can cause symptoms such as diarrhea and vomiting, and in severe cases, cause whole-body jaundice and hepatitis. Liver disease can also lead to liver ascites and kidney disease, which are considered fatal for cats.
Why does inflammation cause increased body temperature?
After an animal's body experiences an inflammatory response, it usually shows symptoms such as redness, swelling, heat, pain, and dysfunction of tissues and organs. The inflammatory response causes the body temperature to rise, stimulating increased metabolism and higher enzyme activity. This enables the body to fight against inflammatory factors more quickly, aiming to eliminate inflammation. However, high body temperature can also cause damage to cat's organs and tissues.
Can cats with inflammation take penicillin?
Penicillin belongs to the B-lactam class of antibiotics, mainly targeting inflammatory responses caused by sensitive bacterial infections. The effectiveness of different penicillins against bacteria varies. First-generation penicillins have a broad antibacterial spectrum and are effective against both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. Third-generation penicillins have a better effect on treating Gram-negative bacteria. Therefore, it is not recommended to give cats penicillin-based antibiotics before a confirmed diagnosis, to avoid misuse of medication.
Is mild inflammation serious?
When cats have mild inflammation, it is not necessarily serious. Cats with strong resistance may even recover on their own. However, it is still best to undergo anti-inflammatory treatment. If the inflammation continues to progress, it may cause symptoms such as depression, loss of appetite, or complete loss of appetite, high fever. In the later stages of inflammation, due to the action of pathogenic microorganisms and their toxins, it may cause bacteremia or sepsis, which can lead to death.
