What to do if your Samaoye has a fungal infection

Samaoye fungal infections are mainly caused by Microsporum and Trichophyton mentagrophytes infections. In this case, it is recommended that owners can take oral antifungal drugs, along with the use of antifungal sprays or shampoos. It is necessary to clean your dog's skin and hair in a timely manner, and the dog's bedding can be sunbathed, as the small spores may exist in the environment.

Why do fungal infections occur?

Fungal infections in dogs are generally common in young dogs or those with poor immune systems. When a dog's skin immunity decreases or the skin is damaged, some fungi will overgrow, leading to clinical symptoms of fungal infection. This usually manifests as circular or irregular hair loss, scales, mild to moderate itching.

Early symptoms of fungal infection

The early stages of a dog's fungal infection usually manifest as itching. The dog may scratch itself with its claws, bite, and rub against things to alleviate the itch. Sometimes, local skin scales can be observed. When a dog shows signs of itching, visit a nearby pet hospital to determine if the cause is a fungal infection. Once the cause is identified, treatment can be administered accordingly. Fungal skin diseases are usually stubborn and require a long treatment period.

How to treat fungal infection

Dog fungal skin diseases usually cause extensive hair loss and severe itching. It is recommended to shave the affected area to facilitate the application of ointments and baths. Treatment involves applying an antifungal ointment to the infected area for about a week, until the skin begins to recover. Alternatively, visit a pet hospital to inject antifungal drugs and take oral antibiotics once a week. Generally, after two to four injections, the dog will be cured. Additionally, based on the dog's skin condition, antifungal baths can be administered once or twice a week.
