What to do when your cat meows every night
Cat meowing at night is a particularly bad habit, easily disturbing neighbors and your own rest. When the cat meows at night, the owner can interfere, tell it not to meow, and be stern or patient. Interfere each time it meows, and persist for about a week. If the cat still meows constantly at night, the owner will need to change the cat's living environment, and then bring the cat back once it stabilizes.
Why do cats meow at night?
There are several reasons why cats meow at night:
- When a cat arrives in a new and unfamiliar environment, it may feel tense and scared, causing it to meow constantly.
- The cat may be cold or hungry, trying to attract its owner's attention in order to get food.
- The cat may be experiencing physical discomfort due to illness.
- The cat may be in heat, attracting male cats through meowing.
Cat heat symptoms
Signs of a cat in heat include:
- Male cats will urinate randomly everywhere, rarely using the litter box, and displaying mating positions by mounting other cats.
- Female cats become excited and wander around everywhere. Their appetite decreases or they may stop eating altogether. They become more affectionate, approach male cats actively, and frequently display mating positions.
- The female cat's vulva swells and leaks clear fluid.
How to deal with cat meowing at night
Observe the reason why your cat meows at night. It might be due to being in heat. Cats in heat have abundant energy and will meow to attract the opposite sex during the night. In this case, the owner can take the cat to the vet in time to get it spayed. Note that after the cat has the surgery, proper care should be taken to help it recover quickly.
