What are the reasons why a cat keeps rolling around?
A cat that keeps rolling around may be in heat, and therefore rolls on the ground to attract the attention of male cats. Secondly, it could be due to itchy skin on the cat's back, causing it to roll around continuously to alleviate the itch. Additionally, when a cat wants its owner to pet it, it may roll around continuously to be cute and demand attention. To this, the owner can check the cat's fur to see if there are any symptoms such as red skin, hair loss, or dandruff. If so, consult a veterinarian promptly for medication. If the cat shows no signs of discomfort, it is a normal physiological behavior response, and the owner doesn't need to worry too much.
- Heat period
Cats usually go into heat in both spring and autumn seasons. When a cat is in heat, it may exhibit behaviors such as rolling around, howling at night, and wanting to go outside. Meanwhile, female cats will have discharge from their external genitalia, and male cats may show mounting and spraying behaviors. To solve the problem of a cat's heat, it can be allowed to mate or undergo sterilization surgery.
- Itchy back
If a cat has a skin disease or parasites, or has wounds on its back that are healing, it may continuously roll around due to intense itching. The owner can carefully inspect the cat's body to see if there are any wounds, parasites, or skin diseases. If there are wounds, they should be treated promptly. If parasite feces are found, deworming is necessary, and for skin diseases, consult a veterinarian for medication.
- Being cute
If a cat rolls around continuously while showing its belly to the owner, it may be asking for attention and hoping the owner will play with it. The owner can spend more time interacting with the cat, such as giving it hugs, gently stroking its fur, scratching its chin, and rubbing its head. This will not only respond to the cat's cuteness but also strengthen the bond between the cat and the owner.
