Best time for neutering male cats
Neutering male cats is generally recommended between 6-8 months old, as long as the cat's testicles have descended into the scrotum, the surgery can be performed. However, in special cases or if you don't want neutering to affect the cat's cheek development, you can choose to have the surgery later. It is still advised to neuter your cat as early as possible to avoid potential health issues later on.
Generally, neutering cats between 6-8 months old is the optimal time. Because at this age, the cat has not yet experienced its first heat, the neutering effectiveness and recovery ability are the best. As long as the testicles have descended into the scrotum, you can proceed with the neutering surgery.
But if some owners don't want neutering to affect their cat's cheek development, they can choose to have the surgery after the cat's cheeks have developed, usually around 1.5 years old. Because the cat's cheek development is controlled by male hormones, early neutering can lead to a decrease in male hormones in the cat's body, preventing the cat from developing cheeks.
Once you've chosen the right time, it's important to note that the neutering surgery should be performed after the cat's heat cycle has ended. Also, before the neutering, make sure to vaccinate the cat, and treat any internal and external parasites to ensure that the cat's body is in excellent health before undergoing the surgery.
