How big is a border collie after two months?

Border collies are medium-sized dogs. At two months old, they are in a period of rapid growth and development. As adults, their weight ranges from 12 to 20 kg, and their height from 45 to 53 cm. The weight and height of a border collie are related to their owner's feeding methods and the dog's physical fitness. Additionally, male border collies are larger than female ones, and neutered dogs are slightly heavier than unneutered ones.

Adult Border Collie Weight

A qualified adult border collie should weigh around 20 kg and be 50 cm tall for males, while females are slightly smaller, weighing around 15 kg and standing at 45 cm tall. Due to different feeding methods, there will be some variation in each dog's size, but as long as they fall within this range, they can be considered a qualified border collie.

Border Collie Food Quantity Standards

The amount of food a border collie eats is related to factors such as their age, weight, dog food brand, physical fitness, and exercise level. It is recommended that owners refer to the instructions on the dog food packaging for feeding guidelines. Generally, border collies weighing less than 3 kg should be fed 55-110 grams of food per day; those weighing less than 10 kg, 110-200 grams; those weighing around 25 kg, 200-340 grams; and those weighing over 25 kg, approximately 340-580 grams per day.

What to Note When Raising a Border Collie

Pay attention to your pet's diet and choose medium to large-breed puppy food to meet the calcium and mineral needs of medium to large-breed dogs. Observe your pet's behavior, such as defecating indoors, barking excessively, or jumping on people. If your dog exhibits such behavior, it may indicate a lack of socialization and training at an earlier age. You'll need to retrain your dog. Ensure that your border collie gets enough exercise. Sheepdogs are full of energy and need at least 2 hours of exercise daily. You can reduce this amount when they are young. If they don't get enough exercise, they may become destructive.
