Can a puppy with a cold in February take a bath?
A puppy under two months old with a cold should not take a bath. This is because puppies under two months old have weaker resistance, poor disease resistance, and physical weakness, which may lead to worsening of the cold, and are prone to respiratory infections, colds, and pneumonia due to catching a chill after bathing. Generally, after three months, puppies have completed their immunization vaccines and have relatively stronger resistance.
Symptoms of a cold
After a dog catches a cold, it often starts to run a nose, accompanied by mild coughing. The dog's appetite decreases significantly, and in severe cases, the dog becomes lethargic, with increased body temperature, vomiting, and diarrhea. Some dogs may also have symptoms of eye inflammation, such as increased secretions from the eyes and redness.
Treatment of a cold
General cold symptoms include coughing, running a nose, affected appetite, and decreased activity. As long as there is no fever, this condition is relatively easy to solve. Owners can feed the dog with pet-specific cold medicine for consecutive days. If a fever is detected and persists for several days, to avoid confusion with other diseases, it is advisable to go to the hospital for inspection, determination of the cause, and treatment.
How to prevent a cold
To prevent a cold in a Teddy dog, pay attention to warmth, thicken the padding in the dog's kennel for insulation, and avoid letting the dog sleep outdoors. Rationally match the dog's diet to ensure nutritional balance, increase outdoor exercise to enhance resistance. Get vaccinated in time during autumn and winter. When giving the dog a bath, pay attention to the water temperature.
