Cat Behavior When They Are Happy
Cats are very sensitive animals. When they are happy, they will actively approach you, rub against you, jump up to rub against you, roll around next to you, expose their bellies, lie on the ground and make purring sounds, play by themselves, jump to catch their tails, chase shadows, or scratch their legs, claw at cat scratchers, and be in a more active state.
Where to Touch Cats to Make Them Happy
Scratch their necks. The neck is a place that cats can't usually reach, so scratching there makes them feel especially comfortable and happy. Rub their heads. The fur on cats' heads and faces is relatively light, and gently rubbing there gives them a ticklish sensation that makes them feel very comfortable and happy.
Reasons Cats Become Unhappy
Usually, cats become unhappy when unfamiliar people or animals come to the house, such as guests or new pets. Changes in the surrounding environment, such as noisy construction nearby or fireworks, can also frighten cats and cause them to become stressed and angry.
What to Do if Your Cat Is Unhappy
If your cat is unhappy, you can feed it its favorite food or offer rewards. Increase the amount of time you interact with your cat, using a cat toy or playing together. Spend more time petting the cat, such as stroking its neck, to give it comfort. You can also put a leash on the cat or place it in a carrier and take it for a walk outside to see new things.
