Is it normal for a cat to have a fever after getting the MaxiThree vaccine?
After a cat receives the MaxiThree vaccine, it may experience adverse reactions, such as mild loss of appetite, low fever, etc., which are usually normal and disappear within 1 to 2 days. If the symptoms do not improve or even worsen over time, such as high fever, it is recommended to bring the cat to the pet hospital for further examination and treatment.
MaxiThree is a biological preparation mainly used to prevent viral infectious diseases such as feline distemper and feline upper respiratory tract infections. However, even with reasonable vaccination, adverse reactions such as mild fever, loss of appetite, and lethargy may still occur. These are relatively mild symptoms and are recommended to be observed primarily.
However, if a cat develops facial swelling, profuse crying, eye edema, and high fever after vaccination, prompt treatment is necessary to avoid severe consequences such as an allergic shock. In addition, even if no adverse reactions occur after a cat receives the vaccine, it is still necessary to be vigilant because certain stimuli can also cause abnormal reactions in cats, such as changing cat food and feeding environments, intense stimulation, and long-distance transportation. If these adverse stimuli lead to digestive or respiratory abnormalities in cats, it is recommended to seek medical attention in time to prevent the condition from worsening.
Lastly, cats need to receive a continuous series of three MaxiThree vaccines, with a 28-day interval between each dose. It is recommended to strictly follow the vaccination process to avoid premature or delayed vaccination, which will affect the immune efficacy of the vaccine. If a cat receives the vaccine prematurely or delayed, it is advised to test the antibody level in its blood after all three doses of MaxiThree have been administered. If the antibody level is unsatisfactory, it is recommended to boost the vaccine with one or two additional doses of MaxiThree.
