Can cat fever be transmitted to humans?

Cat fever is a disease caused by the feline parvovirus, and it is not a zoonotic disease that can transmit to humans. However, it can spread to other cats through feces, vomit, and contact. Therefore, when taking cats out for a walk, it is necessary to try to avoid sick cats and cats with unknown vaccination status. It is also recommended to wash hands and disinfect upon returning home before interacting with cats with weaker immune systems. If your cat has cat fever, it is important to isolate it immediately and take measures to vaccinate and prevent the disease in other cats within your household.

  1. Although cat fever cannot be transmitted to humans, it can spread to feline species, especially pets who have not been fully vaccinated or do not have cat fever antibodies. Therefore, cats with cat fever should be isolated and treated promptly.

  2. Cats have strong endurance, and it is not easy for owners to notice cat fever in its early stages. However, cats will exhibit some abnormal behavior patterns, such as fever, lethargy, sudden high fever, persistent vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration, etc.

  3. Cat fever has a certain mortality rate, so if your cat shows any of the above abnormal symptoms, it is necessary to take it to a pet hospital promptly for testing and diagnosis.
