Is the cat's ringworm scab almost healed?
The formation of a scab on a cat's ringworm is a sign of improvement. When the cat's ringworm area stops losing hair, forms a scab, and begins to grow hair, it means the cat is recovering. Ringworm is a fungal skin disease caused by infection with a fungus that can spread spores, which are difficult to kill and can survive in the environment for many years, so the recurrence of ringworm is highly likely. Owners need to thoroughly disinfect the environment and cover the ringworm area with medication as much as possible to prevent recurrence.
Causes of ringworm in cats
Ringworm in cats is mainly caused by microsporosis, a fungal skin disease and one of the more common skin diseases in cats. It is transmitted between animals. Particularly when a cat's skin immune barrier is damaged, resulting in reduced skin immunity, when microsporosis spores fall on the skin or come into contact with it in other ways, the spores multiply extensively on the hair, and clinical symptoms of ringworm appear.
Treatment for ringworm in cats
First, the owner should isolate the sick cat and thoroughly disinfect the home environment, including objects the cat has contacted. Secondly, the owner needs to purchase hydrogen peroxide, iodine solution, cotton buds, disposable gloves, and antifungal drugs. Finally, the owner should shave the cat's affected area, disinfect it with hydrogen peroxide and iodine solution, and apply antifungal drugs. The owner should note that after applying medication to the cat, used cotton buds and gloves should be wrapped and discarded, and hands should be washed and disinfected.
Prevention of ringworm in cats
Cats can supplement B vitamins, lecithin, or unsaturated fatty acids to improve skin resistance. Secondly, avoid contact with cats suffering from ringworm, as it is moderately contagious and easily transmitted when skin resistance is low. Lastly, the cat's living environment should be clean and tidy. Cats prefer a clean environment, and a clean environment can better prevent the occurrence of diseases.
