Reactions of cats after eating catnip
There are mainly two reactions when cats eat catnip: one is that the cat is not sensitive to catnip, so everything is normal after eating it, and there are no reactions. The other is that the cat becomes very excited, and may exhibit behaviors such as sneezing, chewing, rubbing its body, rolling, and making other excited sounds. Although these behaviors have no significant impact on the cat's health, it is recommended that owners do not give their cats catnip too often.
- No reaction
Not all cats are sensitive to the taste of catnip, just as many cats love string-like and fur-like toys, but some cats are not interested at all. Therefore, if the cat is not interested in the smell of catnip, it will not show any reactions.
- Becoming very excited
Catnip contains a chemical called lignans, which stimulates cats and makes them excited. Therefore, if the cat is very sensitive to the taste of catnip, it will become excited and intoxicated after eating it, exhibiting behaviors such as sneezing, rubbing the ground, meowing, sudden excitement, and running around everywhere. Therefore, owners can occasionally give their cats a small amount of catnip to adjust their mood.
Note: The amount of catnip given to the cat each time should not be too much, otherwise it may cause difficulty breathing. Also, do not feed catnip too frequently, once or twice a week is enough.Feeding catnip too often may cause the cat to lose interest in it and no longer have a reaction to it.
