Catnip Usage Precautions

Catnip usage precautions mainly include three points: firstly, the dosage. It is recommended to use a small amount equal to the size of a thumbnail. Secondly, the frequency: it is suggested to feed the cat once a week. If used too frequently, it will lose its effectiveness and the cat will no longer have an excited response. Thirdly, the usage frequency: it is recommended to use 1-2 times a week, and catnip toys should not be hung in the room for a long time. They need to be sealed and stored when not in use.

  1. Dosage

The dosage of catnip for one use should not be too much. A quantity the size of a thumbnail is enough. If the owner overfeeds the cat with catnip, it may cause respiratory discomfort in the cat or excessive stimulation of the nerves, leading to excessive excitement. In severe cases, it can even cause difficulty breathing.

  1. Frequency

It is generally recommended to feed the cat catnip once a week. Overindulgence can damage the cat's body and cause symptoms such as sneezing, coughing, difficulty breathing, and irregular heartbeat.

  1. Usage Frequency

Catnip usage is generally recommended to be 1-2 times a week. Do not leave catnip toys hanging in the room for a long time. They need to be sealed and stored when not in use. If used too frequently, the excitement effect of catnip will decrease, or even stop the cat's excited response.

Note: Catnip is not recommended for pregnant cats, as it stimulates the cat's central nervous system, making the cat more excited. If the owner feeds pregnant cats catnip, it may cause abortions. Catnip is also not recommended for young cats under six months old. It is suggested to wait until at least six months before appropriately using or feeding catnip to the cat.
