Can cats take a bath during vaccination?

Cats cannot take a bath during vaccination. Because after a cat is vaccinated, its immune system will decrease for a short period of time. If you give the cat a bath at this time, it will easily catch a cold and trigger more diseases. Moreover, there will be needle marks on the cat's skin after vaccination, and bathing can easily lead to skin infection. So, at least a week after the cat is vaccinated, you can give the cat a bath. Also, don't bath the cat 3-4 days before vaccination.

If the owner is preparing to vaccinate the cat, besides knowing that cats can't take a bath during vaccination, there are a few things to note:

  1. If it's a cat that has just been taken home, feed it at home for a week before vaccination. If there are no abnormalities after a week of feeding, only then can the vaccination start.

  2. It's best to wait at the pet hospital for 30 minutes after the cat is vaccinated to ensure that the cat doesn't have an allergic reaction to the vaccination.

  3. After the cat's first vaccination, the owner needs to observe if there are any abnormalities. If the cat shows signs of low energy, poor appetite, vomiting, or diarrhea after vaccination, it's a normal phenomenon if it happens within two days. If it lasts longer than two days, it's necessary to take the cat to the pet hospital for treatment.

  4. If the cat has already been vaccinated, the owner can give it a bath about 7 days after vaccination. After the bath, the owner must dry the cat's fur promptly to avoid catching a cold and affecting the next vaccination.
