Causes of Premature Birth in Dogs

There are various reasons for premature birth in dogs. Firstly, improper feeding can lead to malnutrition, which can cause premature birth in dogs. Feeding birds' bones to dogs can also easily trigger premature birth. Secondly, various diseases such as tapeworm, brucellosis, parvovirus, and distemper can cause premature birth in dogs. The drugs used to treat these diseases may also induce premature birth in dogs. Lastly, external stimuli and intense exercise can affect pregnant dogs, and if they occur when the dog is about to give birth, they can be even more dangerous, easily causing premature birth.

Premature Birth Caused by Improper Feeding

Firstly, if the dog's physical condition is already weak, it is not advisable to let it become pregnant. If the dog becomes pregnant and its nutrition is not kept up due to poor breeding, it is likely to result in premature birth. Secondly, if the pregnant dog is not careful and eats bones, it can lead to constipation. The dog may give birth prematurely while trying to pass stool, and the sharp spikes on the bones can easily scratch the dog's digestive tract, causing premature birth.

Premature Birth Caused by Diseases

When a dog becomes sick during pregnancy, many drugs cannot be used, which can easily induce premature birth. For example, tapeworm infection can cause premature birth and fetal deformities in dogs. Additionally, using drugs after diagnosis can also harm the dog and its fetuses, leading to premature birth. Furthermore, viral or bacterial diseases such as brucellosis, parvovirus, distemper, and herpes virus are severe and can easily trigger premature birth.

Premature Birth Caused by External Stimuli

In the later stages of a dog's pregnancy, its belly will gradually expand, and owners need to take better care of the dog. If during this period, the owner uses an inappropriate position to hold the dog, especially hugging its belly, it can easily stimulate the abdomen and cause premature birth. Meanwhile, intense exercises such as running and jumping can also induce premature birth.
