Symptoms of Dog Allergies

Dog allergies can manifest as facial and eye redness and swelling, localized itching, skin rash, itching, vomiting, diarrhea, and more. Dogs may constantly scratch their bodies, and in severe cases, they can experience shortness of breath, shock, or even acute death. When a dog shows signs of allergies, it is important to take them to a pet hospital for injection of an anti-allergy needle or purchase anti-allergy drugs. Then, according to the corresponding symptoms, give targeted treatment. At the same time, owners need to be aware of what substances their dogs are allergic to to prevent future allergies.

Dog allergic reactions can be divided into acute and chronic types.

  1. Acute Allergic Reaction

This often occurs immediately after oral or injectable drug administration or consumption of certain sensitive proteins, presenting with facial and limb redness and swelling, generalized papules, and itching. Some severe cases may also experience shortness of breath, even shock and death.

  1. Chronic Allergic Reaction

It can manifest as generalized blisters, papules, itching, and skin hair loss. Some cases may also be accompanied by chronic ear inflammation (redness and oozing in the ear), as well as vomiting and diarrhea.

Note: Mild dog allergies can usually heal themselves after cutting off the allergen. However, if the allergy is more severe, such as experiencing itching and generalized rash symptoms, treatment measures should be taken. If not treated in time, it may lead to death.
