Symptoms of dog brain inflammation

The early symptoms of dog brain inflammation are extreme excitement or depression. Dogs showing excitement symptoms will bark loudly, run around randomly, convulse, and even attack people. Dogs showing depression symptoms will be lethargic, have slow reactions to the outside world, have lifeless eyes, be sleepy, and have weak muscles all over their bodies. As the brain inflammation progresses to the later stages, the inflammation gradually spreads, and the dog will develop slow breathing, whole-body paralysis, abnormal limb movement, decreasing reflex function, and loss of consciousness. At this point, the condition is very severe, and if not treated, the dog's mortality rate will be very high.

  1. Dog brain inflammation can be clinically divided into suppurative brain inflammation and non-suppurative brain inflammation. Suppurative brain inflammation is generally caused by suppurative bacteria, and parasitic larvae migrating to the brain tissue can also cause parasitic brain inflammation. Non-suppurative brain inflammation is more common in secondary infectious diseases such as canine distemper.

  2. There are two typical early symptoms of brain inflammation: one is extreme excitement, which is typically caused by rabies. Dogs with this disease will bark loudly, run around randomly, convulse, and even attack people. The other is depression, mainly caused by viral brain inflammation. The main manifestations include lethargy, lifeless eyes, pressing against obstacles without moving, slow reactions to the outside world, weak and soft muscles throughout the body, and being sleepy.

  3. As the brain inflammation progresses to the later stages, the inflammation spreads, and the dog will enter a state of somnolence. Simultaneously, respiratory depression, whole-body paralysis, and abnormal limb movement will occur. The body's reflex function will also gradually decrease or even disappear, and finally, consciousness is lost.
