What drugs to use for dog cold
Dog cold may present symptoms such as sneezing, running nose, coughing, and increased body temperature. When a dog shows cold symptoms, it is necessary to diagnose the cause first before administering medication. Blind medication may lead to worsened dog health. If the dog is diagnosed with a cold, medications such asmarginine oral solution, double-flower lung-nourishing oral solution, and fruit root extract can be used to treat the cold and fever, with functions of relieving coughing, calming the lungs, and clearing heat and toxins. Furthermore, it is essential to use pet-specific cold medicines for dogs.
Firstly, dog cold can be treated with medication. If the dog's spirit and appetite are normal, there is no need for excessive worry, as the cold symptoms might be mild and the dog can recover easily. If the dog shows symptoms such as sneezing, running nose, and coughing, you can feed the dog medications containing ingredients like marginine, chrysanthemum, and Isatis root, which can effectively alleviate the dog's sneezing and coughing, helping to cool the blood, promote the lungs, and dry the dampness and dissolve phlegm. If the dog has a fever, you should also use fever-reducing drugs, such as fever-reducing needles containing flunixin meglumine.
Secondly, if a dog shows symptoms of lethargy, purulent discharge from the eyes and nose, and diarrhea after catching a cold, it is necessary to distinguish between infectious diseases such as canine parvovirus and canine distemper. Testing at a pet hospital is required for diagnosis and subsequent treatment. It is not advisable to treat the dog blindly for a cold, as this could delay the dog's recovery.
Lastly, besides administering medication to the dog, it is essential to keep the dog warm in daily life. You can prepare a cotton nest for the dog and avoid placing the dog's nest in a well-ventilated area. In seasons with significant temperature differences, you can also dress the dog to keep warm. Remember to supplement the dog's nutrition and boost its immune system by feeding it nutritional supplements and vitamin tablets. During the dog's illness, reduce its outdoor activities and provide a quiet space for it to rest.
