Dog curling up asleep

A dog curling up to sleep may be due to reasons such as cold, fear, or physical discomfort. First of all, when the dog's living environment is too cold, they will curl up to keep warm. Secondly, if it's a new dog at home, because it is not adapted to the new environment and feels nervous and scared, it will choose a relatively safe sleeping position. Lastly, if the dog is accompanied by symptoms such as lethargy, loss of appetite, shivering, and unwillingness to be touched, it may be due to physical discomfort. The owner should take the dog to the pet hospital promptly for examination and treatment.

  1. Cold

If it's a cold winter or there is a significant temperature difference between day and night, the dog may feel too cold and curl up to sleep to keep warm. Sometimes, they may even shake due to the cold. In this case, the owner needs to take timely measures to keep the dog warm, such as preparing thick pads, turning on the air conditioning, or using electric blankets, to avoid the dog getting cold and catching a cold.

  1. Fear

Many new dogs at home curl up to sleep because they don't trust the new environment and their new owners. They keep alert and wake up as soon as someone approaches. In this case, the owner can prepare a separate room for the dog to adapt to by itself. Once the dog becomes familiar with the home environment, its sleeping posture will become more relaxed.

  1. Physical discomfort

If the dog curls up to sleep while accompanied by symptoms such as lethargy, loss of appetite, shivering, and unwillingness to be touched, it is likely to be sick and curl up to alleviate the pain. In this case, the owner needs to take the dog to the pet hospital promptly to avoid the condition worsening.
