Symptoms of Dog poisoning

The symptoms of dog poisoning generally include lethargy, loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, foaming at the mouth, rapid breathing, eye tremor, unstable walking, seizures, and sometimes bleeding from the mouth, rectum, or urine. Some dogs may also exhibit aggressive or depressed behavior. In severe cases, the dog may experience shock or even death. When a dog shows symptoms of poisoning, it is recommended that the owner take the dog to a pet hospital immediately to determine the specific toxicity and choose the appropriate antidote. If necessary, vomiting or gastric washing may be performed.

There are many types of toxic substances, and the symptoms of poisoning caused by different toxic substances vary greatly. Some common types include:

  1. Food poisoning

If it is food poisoning, such as after eating moldy or rotten food, the symptoms usually occur within two hours and include vomiting, diarrhea, curling up, severe abdominal pain, and lethargy. In severe cases, death may occur.

  1. Organic poisoning

If it is organic poisoning, such as organophosphorus pesticide poisoning, the symptoms usually appear within 30 minutes, including inability to stand, unconscious calling, and contracted pupils.

  1. Drug poisoning

If it is drug poisoning, it is usually chronic and the onset of symptoms is unpredictable. The symptoms usually include drooling, vomiting, diarrhea, urinary incontinence, accelerated breathing, which can lead to difficulty breathing, increased temperature followed by decrease, bleeding from the mouth, tongue, and eyelids, cyanosis, muscle tremor, seizure, stiffening of the trunk and limbs, followed by muscle relaxation and contracted pupils. It is recommended to seek medical treatment in time.

Note: In daily life, owners should store toxic and harmful items away from dogs to prevent them from touching or eating them. If a dog shows signs of poisoning, it should be taken to the nearest pet hospital for emergency treatment.
