Dog Pregnancy and Over Eating

Controlling Daily Feed Quantity

Dog pregnancy hunger mainly needs to control the daily feed quantity. In the early stage of pregnancy, because the fetus grows slowly during this period, dogs do not need any additional calories. Increasing the feed quantity will lead to obesity in dogs and increase the risk of difficult labor. When a dog is pregnant, the feeding time should be fixed. In the early stage, the dog can be fed twice a day, mid-stage three times a day, and late stage four times a day.

What to Drink During Pregnancy

You can drink more carp soup, which can help the dog produce milk well and avoid the situation where the big dog has milk deficiency after the puppies are born. Otherwise, just provide the dog with clean drinking water. It's also necessary to reduce contact with other dogs and prepare the necessary items for delivery when the puppies are about to be born.

Favorite Foods During Pregnancy

Different dogs may have different preferences for food. During pregnancy, try not to change foods randomly, as it may lead to loss of appetite and decreased food intake. Feed the dog with its favorite foods. You can appropriately increase the amount of meat, fish meal, and bone meal to supplement the nutrients needed by the mother and the fetus. Also, add some trace elements to the dog's daily diet, and feed them with fresh fruits and vegetables to supplement the appropriate vitamins.

Foods to Avoid During Pregnancy

Do not feed chicken bones to pregnant dogs; do not feed moldy or spoiled feed; do not feed foods that are difficult to digest, feed regularly and quantitatively; do not feed snacks, do not feed raw or undercooked meat; do not feed food that is too cold or hot, 40°C is appropriate; pay attention to hygiene, disinfect frequently, and provide clean drinking water.
