Dog Shower Temperature
The temperature of water for dog showers can be adjusted according to the season: 36-38 degrees Celsius is the best in summer, as dog temperatures are usually 1-2 degrees higher than human temperatures. The best way to test the water temperature is to feel it with your hand: if it's neither too hot nor too cold, you can proceed with the shower. Alternatively, you can use a water temperature gauge for a more accurate reading. In winter, a water temperature of 40 degrees Celsius is recommended, which is comfortable and won't feel cold.
The temperature of dog shower water can vary slightly but should not exceed the dog's normal body temperature by more than 5 degrees Celsius. Using water that is too hot can cause significant harm to the dog's skin, hair follicles, and veins, and may also affect blood flow to the brain. It can also lead to skin irritation, reddening, and mild burns.
Moreover, showering too frequently can damage the outer layer of the skin and disrupt its protective barrier, leading to dryness, flaking, itching, and a reduced ability to resist various skin diseases such as bacterial or fungal infections.
On the other hand, not showering for an extended period can cause excessive sebum production. Therefore, it is recommended to shower dogs in summer about every two weeks, and in winter, it can be adjusted to once a month depending on the dog's condition. During winter showers, try to minimize the time and choose a sunny day to avoid catching a cold, especially for small-sized dogs.
When cleaning dogs, it's not only the water temperature that matters; choose a specialized pet shampoo or functional shampoo for cleaning, which can also provide prevention and cleaning effects for the dog's skin.
