Dog's stomach twitches and vomits yellow fluid

The stomach, also known as the abdomen, may cause a dog to vomit yellow fluid due to improper diet, intestinal parasite infection, canine parvovirus infection, and canine distemper. If the dog only mildly vomits yellow fluid and does not show any abnormal reactions, it is a normal physiological phenomenon, and the owner generally does not need to worry too much. If the dog has symptoms other than vomiting yellow fluid, such as diarrhea and loss of appetite, it is recommended to take the dog to the pet hospital for treatment.

I. What are the causes of a dog's stomach twitching and vomiting yellow fluid?

  1. Improper diet

If a dog eats excessively or consumes spoiled food for a long time, it can cause gastric and intestinal damage, affecting normal digestion. It may also lead to acid reflux, causing the stomach acid to be expelled outside the body, appearing yellow.

  1. Intestinal parasite infection

If a dog often eats food contaminated with bacteria, it will produce a large number of parasites and reside in the intestinal tract, causing vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, and even weight loss.

  1. Canine parvovirus infection

This is a virus that mainly affects dogs. It is usually caused by the body's infection with the canine parvovirus, and symptoms include frequent vomiting, loss of appetite, and fever. During vomiting, the abdomen will twitch.

  1. Canine distemper

If a dog has canine distemper, early symptoms include fever and loss of appetite. As the disease progresses, it may cause vomiting, and the vomit will be yellow. Vomiting will also cause abdominal spasms.

II. What are the treatment methods for a dog's stomach twitching and vomiting yellow fluid?

  1. General treatment

Adjust the diet in daily life, eat small meals, avoid overeating, and do not feed the dog spoiled food, otherwise it is easy to affect the dog's normal physical development.

  1. Oral medication

If the dog has an intestinal parasite infection, it can be given parasite-expelling drugs under a veterinarian's guidance. For canine parvovirus infection and canine distemper, follow the veterinarian's advice to take antiviral drugs to control the disease progression and minimize organ damage.

  1. Physical therapy

If a dog only vomits yellow fluid, which is usually caused by improper diet, abdominal massage is necessary to accelerate gastrointestinal peristalsis, promote digestion and excretion, and relieve vomiting.

  1. Intravenous drip

For intestinal parasite infections, follow the veterinarian's advice to receive parasite-expelling drugs via intravenous drip. For dogs with canine parvovirus and canine distemper, antiviral drugs are given via intravenous drip under a veterinarian's supervision.

During treatment, the owner should constantly observe the dog's physical condition. If the symptoms continue to worsen, and there is no improvement after trying the above treatments, it is recommended to take the dog to the hospital promptly.
