Dog Throat Inflammation Symptoms

The symptoms of dog throat inflammation vary depending on the different causes. If a dog has high-frequency coughing, coughing with phlegm, signs of lethargy, loss of appetite, and vomiting induced by coughing, it may indicate throat inflammation. Viral or bacterial infectious diseases can cause increased body temperature, increased pulse, and difficulty breathing in dogs, which can also lead to throat inflammation. It is best to take medication according to the different causes or under the guidance of a doctor.

1. Causes of Dog Throat Inflammation

The common cause of dog tonsil inflammation is bacterial infection. As an immune organ of dogs, the tonsils are the first to be affected, resulting in swollen and inflamed tonsils. When the tonsils are inflamed, timely treatment is necessary to avoid further exacerbating the inflammation or secondary bacterial infection, leading to suppurative tonsillitis.

2. What Medicine to Take for Dog Throat Inflammation

Dog throat inflammation can be treated with Azithromycin. The use of Azithromycin is recommended under the guidance of a doctor. Azithromycin is effective for dog coughs, but the dosage should be monitored. Overdose may cause dog poisoning. The dosage of Azithromycin for dogs is 5-10mg/kg. If there is no improvement after three to five days of treatment, further treatment should be sought at a pet hospital.

3. Treatment for Dog Throat Inflammation

When a dog's throat is inflamed, the owner needs to take the dog to the hospital for a blood test to check the body's inflammation indicators. Then, combined with anti-inflammatory drugs or injections, treatment can be administered. Always ensure that the dog has enough water to drink. When going outside in hot weather, bring a water bottle to prevent the dog from getting thirsty. During the inflammation period, feed the dog food that is not too salty to ensure its health.
