What medicine to give a dog with worms in its stomach
When a dog has worms in its stomach, it is necessary to give the dog an internal deworming treatment. Commonly used internal deworming drugs include those containing serratiopeptidase, albendazole, and praziquantel, which can help the dog eliminate internal parasites such as roundworms, hookworms, nematodes, and tapeworms. Usually, when a dog is infected with internal parasites, it will show symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, weight loss, and coughing. In severe cases, the dog may even vomit or defecate worms, have bloody stools, and require immediate internal deworming.
Firstly, when a dog has worms in its stomach, it is necessary to conduct targeted deworming according to the different types of parasites. For example, when a dog is infected with nematodes or tapeworms, it often shows symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, and soft stools. Treatment can be carried out with deworming drugs containing pyruvate, nitazoxanide, and other ingredients. If the dog is infected with trichomonads or coccidia, it will have symptoms such as loose stools, soft stools, and even bloodstains in the stool. Treatment can be carried out with drugs containing sulfadimidine and metronidazole.
Secondly, when giving a dog internal deworming drugs, the dosage must be strictly according to the dog's weight to avoid insufficient dosage leading to ineffective deworming and excessive dosage causing poisoning. Since most internal deworming drugs for dogs are oral tablets, if the dog is not cooperative in taking the medicine, it can be mixed with tastier foods such as cans or treats, or fed with a feeder.
Lastly, during daily feeding, it is necessary to give the dog regular internal deworming. Usually, preventive deworming requires monthly treatment for young dogs and every three months for adults. If the dog has already contracted internal parasites or has vomited or defecated worms after taking internal deworming drugs, it is necessary to use the drug again within the safe range of use, following the doctor's advice on specific medication.
