Feline Seizures
Feline seizures suddenly occur as neurological symptoms. If the cat is a mother and has just given birth to kittens, the cause of the sudden seizures may be postpartum syndrome. Also known as postpartum hypocalcemia, this condition is caused by inadequate calcium supplementation before birth and significant calcium loss after giving birth. If the cat is not a mother and usually receives calcium supplements, other possible causes of seizures would be considered, such as neurological symptoms or epilepsy.
What is feline seizuring?
The causes of feline seizures can be generally divided into several aspects. Firstly, hepatic encephalopathy or portal vein shunting can lead to abnormal blood ammonia metabolism, causing neurological symptoms of seizures. Secondly, they can be caused by brain trauma or neural damage. Thirdly, structural brain abnormalities such as brain tumors or brain herniation can lead to seizures. Lastly, poisoning diseases such as rat poison poisoning can also cause seizures.
Cat Back Seizures
If a cat has no other symptoms, acts normally, and only occasionally shows back twitches when stretching, being petted, defecating, or during aggressive acts, it is considered normal. The cat's back, especially the spinal cord area, has a rich supply of neurons, which usually manifests as rolling skin, tail twitches, muscle spasms, etc. Sometimes, when this area is gently stroked, over-sensitive cats may bite their tail or hiss at you. Unless there are underlying health issues, this behavior can be considered a psychological disorder in cats, which often occurs in response to sudden stress or changes in the environment. It is recommended to increase playtime, enrich their lives, and reduce anxiety.
Cat Belly Seizures
Possible causes and measures for abdominal seizures in cats include: 1) The cat has eaten something foreign, causing gastrointestinal discomfort and seizures. In this case, emetic drugs can be used to induce vomiting. 2) Seizures can occur due to indigestion caused by eating too fast or too much. In this situation, let the cat rest for a while.
