How to choose a dog vaccine and whether to get a rabies vaccine

First of all, domestic pentavalent vaccines are not recommended (because during our university days, several of our classmates' dogs died from distemper after being vaccinated with domestic vaccines). When your dog is 28 days old, you can choose to inject Intervet's double-valent vaccine to enhance the antibodies against distemper and parvovirus.

How to choose a dog vaccine:

  1. Do not recommend domestic pentavalent vaccines (because during our university days, several of our classmates' dogs died from distemper after being vaccinated with domestic vaccines).
  2. When your dog is 28 days old, you can choose to inject Intervet's double-valent vaccine to enhance the antibodies against distemper and parvovirus, but it is not the core vaccine.
  3. When your dog is 45 days old, you still need to choose between Intervet's four-valent or six-valent vaccines, Weijia伍, or Weijia捌. Intervet's six-valent and Weijia捌 contain leptospira components, so their vaccine reactions will be relatively larger.
  4. In areas with a high rodent population and a humid and hot climate, it is still recommended to inject the vaccine because it is a zoonotic disease.

Should rabies vaccine be given?:

Many people have a limited understanding of rabies, so they panic when their sheep eat the house. So let's learn about rabies vaccines! Should you get a rabies vaccine if you are bitten or scratched by your own dog or cat?

  1. Firstly, dogs and cats that have received a rabies vaccine and are completely healthy cannot spread rabies virus, but it doesn't mean that dogs can bite you randomly.
  2. Secondly, the transmission of rabies occurs days before death.

Why can scratching also transmit the virus?:

Because rabies virus exists in saliva, and dogs and cats like to lick their claws, so what should we do if we are scratched or bitten? The 10-day observation method means that if nothing happens to it within 10 days, you will be fine too. If it dies, you should get the vaccine in time. If it's a stray animal in the wilderness, you must get the vaccine because who knows where it can run in 10 days.
